CHEATIN' DRUNK QUILT TUTORIAL

This little beauty is called "Cheatin' Drunk" because you are getting all of the effect and more of a Drunkard's Path block WITHOUT SEWING ANY CURVES.   Woohoo people!

With the popularity of the Drunkard's Path quilt and curved piecing, here's a super tutorial for all of you who love that look, but prefer not to sew curves.

Start with an amazing medallion print to achieve this spectacular result.

Pick out a fantastic medallian print and some coordinating fabrics.
The fabric I chose had a matching border print that worked perfectly for my quilt.

Cut out the medallions into even squares.

At this stage you will have a full circle print (sorry, I forgot to get a photo)
Do your best to centre the medallion as prints like these are often a bit wonky.

Cut the medallions into even quadrants.

Add sashing to the 2 'curved' edges of the medallion quadrant,
bringing it up to the desired size of your block.

Square it up.

You will notice on my quilt that some of my blocks were sashed in brown
and others in the black print.

This was a super fabric destash.

Layout your blocks into your favorite Drunkard's Path pattern.

Add outer borders as desired.

This is the most incredible curved quilt sewing only straight seams (happy dance)!

I hope you love working on this as much as I did.  Today I have it on the pinning table.

Please watch my INSTAGRAM page for photos of the finished quilt.
