This new pattern has a
completely different shape and style from my first
DIMENSIONS:
12" L x 12" W x 6 1/2" H
MATERIALS:
Alafosslopi (100 %Wool) 100g / 100m - 2 balls (1 of colour A and 1 of colour B).
9mm Circular Needles - 32"
Stitch Markers
PURSE BOTTOM:
Cast on 25 stitches with Colour A.
Knit back and forth on needles in garter stitch until you have a square.
Measure on the diagonal to determine the square.
Place marker. Pick up and knit 25 stitches on the remaining 3 sides of the square, placing markers after each 25 stitches. For the last marker use a different colour, indicating the beginning of the round. 100 stitches.
You will now knit in the round.
I was on a roll with my knitting and missed taking a photo at the pick-up-stitches step,
but this shows how your work will look in the round.
BEAD EDGE:
Knit 1 row.
Purl 1 row.
The bead edge defines the bottom and gives you a good line for measuring your work.
INCREASE ROUNDS:
Row 1: K 1, Increase in next stitch (knit front and back in the stitch), Knit to 2 stitches before the marker, Increase in next stitch, K 1. Repeat 3 times. You will increase 8 stitches per round. 108 stitches after Increase Row 1.
Row 2: Knit
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until you have 140 stitches, ending by knitting Row 2.
COLOUR CHANGE:
Knit 2 rows of Colour B.
Knit 2 rows of Colour A.
Knit 1 Row of Colour B.
Knit 1 Row of Colour A.
When I knit these rounds I was left with about 12" of my Colour A yarn. Eeeek! If you feel that you are running out, you can skip the single rows of the Colour Change section.
NOTE: For the tension that I knit it takes 30" of yarn to make 25 stitches for this pattern.
Continue knitting in Colour B until your work measures 6" from the Bead Edge.
DECREASE ROUNDS:
Row 1: K 1, K2Tog, Knit to 3 stitches before the marker, K2Tog, K 1. Repeat 3 times. You will decrease 8 stitches per round. 132 stitches after Decrease Row 1.
Row 2: Knit
Repeat these rounds until you have 116 stitches.

Pull thread through the last cast-off loop and weave in the end of the yarn. The remainder of the colour change yarns can simply be cut off after felting - no need to weave them in.
Felting
Instructions:
The Alafosslopi Wool felted beautifully and only required one wash cycle on the sanitize cycle in my front load washer.
Wash your knit purse with a load of towels in the hottest water available with your regular detergent (no bleach). Remove from washer. Cut off loose yarns. Shape and stuff with newspaper if desired. Dry overnight.
Some washers will
require 2 felting cycles.
Felting
requires a lot of agitation in the hottest water. Towels are perfect for agitation.
