Do you have a big bold fabric that you would like to feature in a quilt? Here is a pattern for you!
This is a lovely quilt that is suitable for a toddler or lap. It was designed for this beautiful piece of Koi fabric from my stash. The print stands out, but is also toned down. It's a simple modern design with wonderful movement of pattern and colour. Staying in a range of blue cool tones accentuates the main fabric and gives it a watery feel.
CUTTING:
Feature Print:
Cut 1 - Width of Fabric (WOF) x 24"
Accent Fabrics:
Cut 2 - 24" x 6 1/2"
Cut 2 - 24" x 4"
Setting Strips:
Cut 16 - 2 1/2"  WOF strips.
Sew the accent fabrics to the short edges of the feature fabric as shown in these photos.
  Press to one side.
Cross cut your pieced fabric into 6 - 4" strips.
Number the pieces as above.
They need to be kept in order to feature your main fabric design.
Using 14 of your setting strips,  sew together end-to-end into pairs to make 7 long strips.
(Optional:  Use Connecting Threads Wide Backing Fabric as I did.
You will need 8 WOF 2 1/2" setting strips in total and no piecing is required at this point.)
Sew your pieced 4" strips and your setting 2 1/2" strips long edge to long edge.
Do this with all 6 of your pieced 4" strips.
 Trim the excess.
Add the 7th setting strip to the remaining edge.
Sew the remainder of your quilt together keeping the numbered order.
Add a 2 1/2" setting strip to the top and bottom.
The finished quilt.
36" x 68"
A nice set of pillowcases to match.
